Introduction to Frame Maker 11

Adobe FramMaker is an authoring and  publishing tool that has grown from simple editing features to a complicated and enhanced page layout and formatting capabilities. It allows both structured and unstructured authoring. Unstructured authoring is what we do normally to create books and articles.

The structured authoring is little different in the sense that the content is written in a way so that it can be reused. The structured content contain identifiers that allow the content to to be selectively picked and used. The same content can be used for online help, web help, to create brochures, presentations and can be translated in different languages easily. It allows you to use DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture)

FrameMaker is typically used to create large documents and books that are difficult to handle in MS Word. It is typically used by professional technical writers who write a huge amount of content and create books. FrameMaker improves with its each new version.

FrameMaker 11 allows the use of rich media files. The media files can be placed in MP4, SWF, FLV and U3D v3 formats.
